Letting Go

October 8, 2015 - 7:37

I'm in love with you.
You're in love with someone else.
But isn't that always the way?

You're so beautiful.
I'm so ... not.
Beauty comes from within, or so I lie to myself.

If you saw my worth it would be different, maybe.
But that's the point, you don't.
I feel empty.

It's not me, it's you.
You don't deserve someone like me.
And so I move on, looking for someone else who makes me feel alive.

Unrequited

August 3, 2015 - 20:29

Clear skies ahead
Visibility for miles
In every direction
I am open

Clouds may come
Rain might fall
Clouds will go
I'll still be standing where you left me last

What's meant to be will happen
Flowers grow all the time
Some get photographed, picked, and cherished
Some shrivel and die and are blown away

There will be more clear skies
More clouds and rain
More flowers, many flowers
But only one sun, one moon

There is no moon without the sun
There are no flowers without the sun
Even if you are my moon
I am not your son

It takes rain to make a rainbow
The skies will open up again
From uncharted territory to the depths of my soul
I've grown from where you last left me

But you have to be
More than a flower
To recognize
I am not just a flower
