Her Last
You remember her smell
Her touch made you dwell
The feel of her soft embrace
You would have run every race
You thought you knew it all
She said you have such gall
You waited night and day for her call
Thinking I refuse to be the one to fall
Now you miss her like a drug
You should be feeling so smug
You did this to yourself you see
You couldn't just let things be
You drove her away from you
All along you wish you knew
You thought she was the one
That feeling swarmed that you had won
But you failed like those before
So she showed you the big door
Now you miss what you once had
And it can make you mighty sad
You realize now but it's too late
Oh if only to go back to your first date
To tell yourself how to make it work
So now you wouldn't be the jerk
Every man wants to be her first
To do it all and quench her thirst
But they all live now in her past
The best in life ends up her last
Collection of poems I've written over the years.
