Real
A real woman puts you in your place
Yet knows when to give you some space
She tears you down like a bad rhyme
Building you up to stand the test of time
Every man wants a great woman
We hear about them in each sermon
But can we see one in our eyes
Or do we rush to say goodbyes
A woman knows her role in life
To accept nothing less than as his wife
She needs a man to calm her soul
To feed her sick, straight from the bowl
A strong man needs to be her rock
But soft enough to wear her smock
A real man does all this and more
He keeps her interest, never the bore
But what is real do we know
If we find it can we show
Who we really are deep inside
Put it all aside to enjoy the ride
None of us are strong, all weak
Flaws and mistakes the moment we speak
The pain and suffering, enough to weep
Then quietly leave each other, nay a peep
But then a real woman meets a man
Because not even God has a plan
We decide our own fates, free will
We just all have to pay the bill
You see the woman and man never left
They worked things out by being deft
They stood together, conquering all to rise above
Forgiveness, trust, compromise, communication, and love
Real is what we define
As we start to refine
The essence of ourselves into one
So we can ride, into the setting sun
Collection of poems I've written over the years.
