Loss & Missed Opportunity
Watching your plane take off.
The touch of your skin, how it must have been soft.
Seeing the game from the sidelines.
Another night alone at home, never dressed to the nines.
Waiting for you to leave with things left unsaid.
Not saying what you wanted, and now they're dead.
That empty chair across from me at dinner.
My unplayed favorite numbers, now a winner.
A bottle of wine and just one glass.
Late again to class.
Never getting a chance to say goodbye.
Afraid to take a chance and say hi.
Sometimes it hurts to lose someone you love,
Now that they're gone what were you so afraid of?
Collection of poems I've written over the years.
